Abounding tittle-tattle-1
Monday, June 1, 2009, 10:34 AM - iPhone

I am little fortunate to have a spouse having sound technical knowledge. She is someone who complements me in my work. Mona is a wonderful partner I am bestowed with.

As I was buying my summer sports apparels, I saw my coach Jordan there. I waived my hand and said hi and he asked me my summer plans. He had with him his wife Kelly. She is a professor in one of the community schools. She is a perfectionist lady about whom Jordan used to talk a lot while coaching us. My wife and she gets well with each other. Here they got the opportunity.

Kelly has reached where she is with dint of hard work. Even as me & Jordan buying our stuff in the store; these two chatter boxes started exchanging their views on technical matters by sitting on a bench nearby. My wife loves to note down (My shopping list is pretty long, for this reason!!!) and here is what she succinctly noted down; By the way Apple’s upcoming iPhone is the core of their topic.

German Philosopher Walter Benjamin once said “These are days when no one should rely unduly on his ''competence.'' Strength lies in improvisation. All the decisive blows are struck left-handed.” One cannot agree more with it. We have seen many organizations growing exponentially just because they improvise a lot ahead of time and reap the unimaginable fruits of it.

Apple has always given all its competitors run for their money. It has successfully endeavored to stay ahead in the hunt by making some objective, imaginative and foresighted moves. iPhone is the case in point. It is perhaps the best smartphone in the market. Going by the market statistics it has achieved what others could daydream about. But to the surprise of everyone Apple is to release something out of world on the June 19th 2009. The New iPhone is, for sure, going to go places. Let’s have a look at some of the features OS 3.0 comes up with;

Pricing:- The iPhone 3GS will sell for $199 for the 16GB version and 32GB will go for $299, both with a two-year service contract, of course. In a new twist, though, the 8GB iPhone 3G will still be available for the reduced price of $99 with two-year contract. While you won’t get all of the latest features with the new version, it is certainly a welcome addition to continue the iPhone’s unprecedented market penetration.

Much Improved Battery Life in 3G S Only Haven’t you experienced/ heard people grining about the low battery life of Apple smartphones? Thankfully Apple has addresed that concern. Now there will be nine hours on Wi-Fi, 30 hours audio playback, 10 hours of video, 12 hours 2G talk, and five hours 3G. Again, Apple estimates, so likely exaggerated, but should beat the existing iPhone pretty handily.

3-Megapixel Autofocus Still/Video Camera (3GS Only)
Lots of neat “tap to focus” options, better saturation/exposure control, and video capture. Videos can also be instantly edited on the device, as many predicted. The implementation of video functions looks very slick. There is also developer API access to the still and video camera.
There is much more to it, but we will see that in next article.....

Adrenaline Rush for Android
Friday, May 22, 2009, 11:32 AM - Android

Android is the name of the technology, no one wants to stay unaware of. Rightly so, because the way it is expected to explode, it will definitely eat out the big chunk of the mobile market pie. It’s not only Google phone that is going to use this amazing platform for creating applications to help user base.

Android has been rightfully touted by experts in the industry. Once the new version takes off, it’ll be having tremendous features that any developer would like to have at his or her disposal.

Users will have luxury to see in Android 1.5, code-named Cupcake, the following:

• User interface improvements to messaging, Gmail, calendar, browser, and other applications. The Gmail application supports batch operations so multiple messages can be deleted or archived at once, for example.

• Video recording and playback, and more importantly these videos can be uploaded to YouTube.

• Stereo Bluetooth and auto-pairing for better Bluetooth headset support. Auto pairing is  the salient feature nobody would like to miss out.

• A nice Web browser with the latest WebKit technology, including the Squirrelfish technology for faster JavaScript. The browser also includes copy-and-paste support, (vow!) search within the page, the unified search and address bar that debuted in Google's Chrome browser, and faster scrolling.

• Much faster acquisition of location through the GPS system.

• A "soft" screen-based keyboard.

• Applications can rotate when the phone's accelerometer detects a new orientation.

• Faster camera start-up and operation. Photos can be uploaded to Google's Picasa photo-sharing site.

• User photos in the contacts application.

After incorporating so many unique features is there any apprehension left for its exponential growth????

Big corporations indulge in healthy competitions that usually work in customer’s favor. That is exactly what is happening in the smartphone industry right now. The all too good competition has resulted in some astounding features to cater to the future needs of its users. Of course the prices are also going down as a result of the same phenomena and here is where the true entrepreneur comes in to play. An entrepreneur having vision could make most out of this ongoing mobile fever.

Apple Of Steve’s Eye
Tuesday, May 12, 2009, 10:02 AM - iPhone

Steve Jobs has proved his mettle to the world and has shown the world what a visionary of his stature can do in this fiercely competitive world. The current times are such that smallest of lacunae is magnified by your rivals and you are thrown out of the business but there are smart people who use their smartness to produce extremely smart product and lead the path for others to emulate.

All of us know very well that Apple’s original iPhone launched in June 2007. The price tag was  $400 for its low-end model. And that was a little too high for masses to get hold on one. It wasn’t until Apple released its second iPhone, the iPhone 3G, with a $200 price tag that the smartphone exploded into the mainstream. Within the calendar year of 2008, Apple successfully did business of over 10 million units of the iPhone 3G.

The company was destined to do good given its marketing strategy and impeccably sound products. The company quickly established itself as a market-share heavyweight. Recent statistics suggest the iPhone shows no signs of flagging. A research report from NPD Group reveals that in terms of consumer smartphone sales, Apple sold a whopping 24 percent of the U.S. market, claiming the title for No. 2 best-selling smartphone that quarter. That’s an improvement from the first quarter of 2008, when Apple sold 17 percent of smartphones in the market and held the No. 3 spot.

The research company Gartner’s opinion is taken very seriously among all the product developers for its sound, creditable and ethical analysis. Gartner recently released global smartphone numbers indicating Apple’s iPhone doubled its worldwide marketshare. Apple’s share of worldwide smartphone sales increased from 5.3 percent in the first quarter of 2008 to 10.8 percent in the first quarter of 2009, according to Gartner. In terms of iPhones sold, Apple grew from 1.7 million units in the first quarter of 2008 to 3.9 million units during the same period in 2009.

Something that Apple should reasonably loose it’s sleep over is the rise of another cool product in the segment. The important turn out this year is the emergence of additional iPhone competitors, including Palm’s Pre. Palm in January announced the Pre at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, and many tech enthusiasts have been eagerly anticipating the Pre not only because of its iPhone-like awesome touchscreen and form factor, but also because the phone has been made under the direction of Palm CEO Jon Rubinstein, who happens to be a former Apple engineer who was instrumental in bringing out Apple’s iPod.

Even if Palm’s Pre proves to be a compelling device, that doesn’t mean it’s going to threaten the iPhone, said tech strategist Michael Gartenberg.

A sensible statement that has been issued says “For Palm to succeed does not mean that Apple has to do badly,” Gartenberg said. “And likewise for Apple to succeed doesn’t mean that Palm is going to go out of business. There’s going to be a lot of room in the smartphone market for several players here.”

Can we make some educated guesses about the next iPhone? What do we know about the next iPhone? Nothing, really. But growing evidence suggests the third-generation iPhone’s main improvements include a digital compass, an improved digital camera with video-recording capabilities and auto-focus, and a speedier processor.
